Upon opening in 2006, our goal here at Lox Salon was a simple one: Quality hair at an affordable price. We haven’t changed much in the past decade. Thanks to your vote, we won 2016 Top Salon in Knoxville’s Mercury newspaper. We must be doing something right.
Unfortunately, however, our quantity seems to now surpass our ability & our wait list extends daily. We feel as though we may be letting you down, which is the last thing we want. We value each guest and know your time is valuable, which is why we make every effort to have you looking & feeling your very best without spending too much time or money inside the salon.
This has not been an easy decision, but we have unanimously agreed that after 10 years, 2 buildings, 6 product lines, 20+ employees, and thousands of guests, we will now offer an Apprenticeship program. This means that we can (almost) always get you in to see your preferred stylist, no wait. A stylist in training will assist you in shampooing, rinsing, and styling, but a Master stylist will still handle the detailing of cutting and coloring. These new stylists are learning all they can under the supervision of our top stylists so that they too can offer quality haircare that is the Lox standard.
Are you excited as we are!? We hope so! This means that you may need to call to schedule your next appt if you see that you cannot find one online. Just keep in mind, that you will have one more person taking care of your needs than you would find normally. We always recommend prebooking your next appointment as you leave the salon, just to be sure.
To ensure that this Apprenticeship program works to the fullest, and Lox can continue to offer quality service at an affordable price, starting Dec 1st our prices will increase by $5. Student discounts will now be offered by all stylists, including Master stylists. We are so thankful that we have been able to serve the community at the low prices we offer and hope to continue. Thanks to our loyal patrons and our Referral Program, we continue to grow and expand our team and cannot wait to see what the next year holds out for us & for you.
We hope you have a great Holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the chair soon!
It’s been a busy couple of months since our last post. We were sad to see Kat Lewis & Katelyn Comer say goodbye to Lox & hello to new opportunities and big adventures. We wish them the very best!
Katelyn did not, however, leave us without a protege to follow in her footsteps. Kiersten Welborn, a year into Esthetics, got the pleasure of working under Katelyn for a few months before she left. Kiersten is now full time, specializing in makeup, skincare, and waxing.
Kiersten: I love being in the skincare industry and helping people obtain the confidence they need. I am excited to be the new Esthetician at Lox. My goals are to expand my skills in makeup as I hope to one day specialize in editorial makeup. For the month of August, I am offering 20% off waxing for all my guests.
We’re also excited to welcome Sammie Broadway & Ana Bateman to the Lox family. Sammie will be happy to take your calls, set up your appointments, and answer any questions you may have about the salon and the services we offer. Ana recently moved to Knoxville with her husband and 8 month old son from South Carolina and went to school at the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill. We’re lucky to have found both of these lovely ladies at the right time.
Sammie: I enjoy traveling, going to concerts, taking photos, and Netflix bingeing. I am currently a Cosmetology student at Paul Mitchel School and I look forward to continuing my education through the Esthetics course and eventually becoming a certified MUA.
Ana: I am a lover of good food, grey t-shirts, pad puns, and my people. I have been behind the chair for over 4 years and am in love with every aspect of this profession. I am most passionate about helping you find a style that works for your hair and makes you feel confident & beautiful. Originally from NC, I am excited to once again be surrounded by mountains & we look forward to planting roots here.
Last by not least, we were happy to announce our newest, and youngest, addition to the Lox family on June 23rd. Owner & Master Stylist, Brynn Crowell & husband, Gabriel, welcomed the arrival of their baby girl, Cornelia Blue. Brynn is now back behind the chair 2 days/wk (Tuesdays & Thursdays) & is excited to transition back into the salon.
April was a busy month. Chances are you aren’t slowing down anytime soon. How about a massage to release that tension in your shoulders & keep you going through the warm summer? You know you could use it.
Lox welcomes Shelagh Leutwiler LMT to the Lox team offering both Therapeutic & Relaxation massage.
Meet Melissa Duda.
Originally from Atlanta,Ga Melissa moved to Knoxville in the summer of 2015 & started working at Lox Salon shortly thereafter. If you have not gotten a chance to read the write up in local newspaper Knoxville Mercury, run out & grab a copy. Ben Miller, Master stylist at Lox Salon, is on the front cover! We are so proud to know such a talented stylist and have gotten to work side by side with him for the last 4 years. As his product company, Anchors Hair Co., continues to grow however it has been harder for Ben to put in the time behind the chair. Pomades are in high demand so Ben has decided to put the shears down & say goodbye to the salon environment, at least for the time being. We hate to see him go, but are so excited for the adventures his new company will bring to him & his family.
If you are one of the lucky to have met Ben and sat in his chair while he works his magic, I recommend stopping in and seeing him one last time before the holiday season. Maybe get an autographed copy of his article. We are so proud of him and can’t wait to see what next year brings! Best of luck, Ben!

This past year we have seen a lot of growth here at Lox Salon. We have welcomed 2 new stylists, Melissa Duda & Chelsea LeBlanc, and a new front desk manager, Justin Roberts. We have celebrated 2 weddings and a birth. We have expanded to include a nail station and a massage room.We have added a whole new line of all natural Mens’ products. 2015 has been a good year for changes. With all that change, however, comes the bad with the good.
In recent months, we had to say goodbye to two amazing employees: Mandi Lawson ,LMT and Megan Moskowitz, Stylist & Educator. We were sad to see them go but excited about the opportunities they had been offered to expand in their careers. Megan is now a Salon Manager, as well as, Educator for Eufora Haircare back in her hometown of California. While Mandi, when she is not busy massaging for UT’s athletic team, she can be found working part time at Meadow Sweet on Gay St. We miss them both and the wonderful, positive spirit they contributed to the salon environment. We congratulate them both on their successful careers and wish them the very best!
Miss you Guys!-The Lox Team
